People with a Lap Band do not need breakfast. So Lap Band meal ideas are not required.  To understand this predicament lets begin with the point that the lap band feels the tightest in the morning, placing great pressure on the receptor sites to make you feel disinterested in wanting and needing to eat a lap band breakfast, so it’s best to avoid it. But why?

  1. The lap will take about 2-4 hrs from waking before it loosens up, and you begin to slowly feel interested in eating your first meal.
  2. Fluid changes occurring at night while asleep, makes the band feel tighter in the morning

So the key question.  Do individuals with a Lap Band need breakfast, NO.

The solution / recommendation.

  1. Forget breakfast with the Lap Band. Stop forcing calories through the lap band when you are not feeling hungry.
  2. Two to four hours after waking you will become interested in food as the pressure lessens on the receptor sites. This is when I recommend we have our first meal of the day, not breakfast!!!

Consider removing breakfast, lunch and dinner from your weight loss journey vocabulary. Replace these to the first, second and third meal of the day instead, consumed at times that suit your lifestyle.

Every person with the gastric band will have it restricted at different degrees. However to maintain the hunger control that is the ideal outcome, the lap band will always feel tighter in the morning and  looser at night. Please ensure it does not become too lose by the end of the day.
